Delta Dental Dentist – St. Louis, MO
How Delta Cuts the Cost of Oral Surgery
Dr. Stewart Moreland and our team are always happy to hear that our patients have dental insurance. We’re willing to work with most insurance plans, but patients who have Delta Dental insurance are in a special position to benefit from their policy when they visit us. We are proud to be a Delta Dental dentist in St. Louis, and our knowledgeable team of experts is ready to help you get the most out of your coverage.
Delta Dental Coverage Availability & Fees
Delta Dental Missouri offers PPO plans, both as group coverage and as policies that individuals can purchase on their own. In most cases, the coverage works something like this:
- 100% coverage for preventive services (exams, cleanings, etc.)
- 50% - 80% coverage for basic restorative services (fillings, periodontal maintenance, non-surgical extractions)
- No coverage – 50% coverage for major services (oral surgery and other extensive procedures)
The above-listed coverages are applicable only at in-network provides; coverage rates may be lower at out-of-network providers. Therefore, it is in your best monetary interests to visit a dental professional who is in Delta’s network.
Because Dr. Moreland is an oral surgeon in St. Louis, the services that he offers tend to fall into the “major services” category. Therefore, you may need to hold your policy for at least 12 months before Delta is willing to offer help with any procedure you receive in our office. Also, keep in mind that as far as individual plans go, only the Traditional Basic, Traditional Preferred, and Traditional Choice provide coverage for major services. The Traditional Value plan is very much geared toward preventive and basic procedures.
Your PPO plan also comes with an annual maximum, perhaps around $1,000 or so. If the cost of your treatment will exceed that amount, we’ll be happy to work with you to arrange affordable financing so you can receive the care you need to enjoy a healthy, functional smile. In some cases, we may be able to schedule treatments across calendar years so you can take advantage of two annual maximums rather than one. For example, bone grafting may take place several months prior to dental implant placement.
