Dr. Stewart Moreland is a St. Louis native. He obtained his undergraduate degree from University of Missouri (Mizzou). He obtained his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (D.M.D.) from Washington University in St. Louis. After a one year General Practice Residency at the Washington University Medical Center and The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis, he moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at St. Francis Medical Center. Dr. Moreland is very appreciative and grateful to the training and guidance from the St. Francis program director, Chester J. Chorazy, D.D.S., M.S. The focus of his residency training was on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions involving the face, jaws, teeth and associated structures; however, he spent significant time training in medicine, general surgery, anesthesia, critical care and pathology.
During his final year of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training, Dr. Moreland’s surgery training included a 2 month rotation in trauma care at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida under the direction of Stuart N. Kline, D.D.S. and Robert Marx, D.D.S.

Dr. Moreland earned his Diplomate status from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1989.
Dr. Moreland has been on staff at Mercy Hospital – St. Louis (formerly St. John’s Mercy Medical Center) since 1987. He served for many years on the Quality Assurance committees for the Departments of Surgery and Dental Medicine. He participated heavily in the Emergency Department for care of patients with major Facial Trauma and serious infections of the Head and Neck. He has been a state examiner for the Missouri Dental Board specialty licensing examination in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1995 as well as an examiner for General Anesthesia office licensing.
Dr. Moreland provides a full scope of care in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, however, he has a particular clinical interest in the the surgical management of impacted Wisdom Teeth, treatment of associated infections and tumors, Dental Implant Surgery, and Reconstructive Surgery.
